Permits 2019

With quite a few people in my extended family passing away, especially in the last year, we decided to do a family float trip through Meander Canyon in August. This will be new for me, as I typically go by myself or with Nancy and 2 other friends. This time it will be 16 people in 8 canoes. Nancy and I are the only ones with any floating experience. It will be exciting sharing my favorite place with family, who are coming from all over the U.S.

25 years ago when we lived in Telluride, Nancy and our 3 year old son took a trip back east to visit grandparents. So being a bachelor for a week I embarked on a leisurely tour of the four corners area. I loaded up my Bronco with camping gear and our husky and took off, 1st to Chaco, then Hovenweep. On my way back I decided to camp at Navajo National Monument, and saw Betatakin from the overlook, and I was blown away, vowing to return some day. I had tried to get a permit to Keet Seel a few times, but I was always late applying or the dates did not work. This year I called the first day they accepted reservations.
Bingo!
A friend and I will be doing the overnight trip on May 28th. It will be the first real test drive on my new hip.
I am stoked.

Very sorry to hear about the extended family, and had no idea you got a new hip. Meander will be awesome, as will Keet Seel. Lots of photos, please.
