New BCP Updates

How does the trip report count handle the people who make a separate thread for each day of their four day trip? I'm not saying that people shouldn't do this, just curious.

It just counts threads posted within the trip reports forum by each user. I think it's fine when people break up trips by day as that means they're usually going more in depth with each one. The problem I see is that there are frequently threads posted in the trip reports section which belong in trip planning because people are confused.

Is search still in progress? Tried searching ‘before after’ to find that thread, get the error about generic search terms.

Hey @Nick I just noticed here at work that if you are logged out of BCP, the pictures in trip reports show up small and poor quality. If I log back in, they back to normal size and resolution. Is this by design, or is this a bug that's being worked on?

That's deliberate. It basically forces users to login if they want to look at all the big, pretty pictures. I've ben toggling it on and off lately to get lurkers to sign up and hopefully participate.

Oh gotcha. One thought... how are they to know that if they sign up/login that the photo quality will be better?

Is there any kind of notification that tells lurkers they are missing out?

The images show up as thumbnails which I think most people will try to click on to see larger. It then tells them they must be logged in or sign up.

Also, I'll be adding more around the site to let the lurkers know whats up. I've just been too busy.

Also just another thought. I have a few friends and family members who occasionally ask to see some pictures when I get back from a trip. I’ve always found it easiest to just send them a TR url. I’m not sure if anyone else does that? I guess I can just send them a dropbox folder URL instead.

I just undid it so they can see the photos again. :)

No no, really do whatever’s best for the site. It’s mostly just my mom that asks lol. And yup, that’s right. I just admitted I show my trip reports to my mom lol.
Is it possible to have a private link that can be shared with our mom's so they can see the goodness but the general
internet surfer will only see the thumbnail images?

Such a thing may be way more work than it's worth or not even possible but that's what came to my mind.

As a side note, since the update when I type a response like this the similar threads list below, the quote and slide bars jump
with every other keystroke. Does anyone else notice this?

Or do I need to readjust my tinfoil hat?

This is the phenomenon that I referred to in my earlier post.

I notice it only happens when I've quoted an earlier post.

Just curious...how does it react when you hit maximize on the browser window?
