SR 59 is to far from those.

You can access this site by leaving SR12 but it is not by far the shortest way coming from a highway.

is the paved road highway 9? This looks like East Zion but outside the park boundary?

The paved road close to the site is not a highway and is not on the Zion NP side of Hwy 89.

I saw all the yellow in the pictures, remembered that name in the book, and then couldn't remember the map/directions...

Can you be a bit more specific and give the mileage from Hwy 89 where to park on Johnson Canyon Rd ?
About 2 years ago, I found on the web a picture of this site with a caption just saying Johnson Canyon, then I found the exact place looking closely on Google Earth, and I could photograph this site last Spring.
