Not if you know when to go..... and don't mind 95-105 degree weather!I wouldn't know....they're impossible to get!
I had no trouble getting one at big springs at the last minute. Oh wait! that was 2005I wouldn't know....they're impossible to get!
Wow, I am honored that it left an impression! One of my top 3 ever backcountry trips in UT for sure. It's getting increasingly difficult every year. Last fall they started having Fall hosts and they occupied 2 of the sites.
But I do remember a great TR of yours where you invited a young couple to share one of those campsites with you and you ended up doing a lovely backpacking trip together. Great story!
Seaman Wash?Ok, next up. Name the drainage running below this rim:
That makes such sense to me....I was looking at Johnson Canyon but it was too developed in the bottom with ag.Seaman Wash?
That was quick! Take it away @Michael
Dang!!!!
There's a trail to Red Top? Or are we looking at one and the same trail off of the mesa:?
It must be just the one trail referred to by multiple names. I think the label I named it was from Kelsey. I think the Box trail is another name. Very well constructed at one time in a neat route through obstructions. I haven't yet gone to Red Top so I was curiousMaybe I was wrong in saying that the guess was the trail to Red Top. The photo was from the trail you have on that map just near the Paria. I didn't know that trail had a name so I assumed when @Michael guessed the trail to red top, that must have been the name of the trail I was on. So maybe the trail has two names? Or maybe there really is a separate trail up to red top?

Sorry for delay.
Many trails in this specific area are unnamed on Topo. Their names based on locals and local history like Box Trail, Red Top, Hidden Cache, Goulding and so on.
And yes their's a "trail" to the southern wall of red top - beautiful.
Hmmm....in a way it looks familiar, but I'm in no way certain. Phipps Wash in the vicinity of Phipps Arch?
funny looks to me like Maverick Bridge Canyon in the foreground (from Weavers), so basically the same, but the background looks like bewteen the Needles and Beef Basin...Hmmm....in a way it looks familiar, but I'm in no way certain. Phipps Wash in the vicinity of Phipps Arch?
