@Rockskipper we are definitely not on the Tower of Babel, but it's the right general area!
Maybe it's the because of the aftermath of the other, mythical, Tower of Babel, that i'm confused about the meaning of "yikes" in this context.
 
OK, as a non-climber i fully agree with that!
We are at a much more civil place, just some serious scrambling to get there, and yes the Rock formation has a name on the map!
 
@John Morrow, it is the Great Wall, you are up!

We scrambled up on the east side of "The Tunnel" and hiked down the other side of the Wall.
The picture is taken at approx the beginning of the descent.

What is the name of this large waterless bottom? Not looking for the Butte name, but general locatio where the photo is taken

I could probably find this exact spot in Google Earth without much effort, but instead I'm going to throw out a quick guess based on what I think might be a hint in your text. Big Water Canyon?
