Nope. That would probably be a nice little hike though. I think I'll wander up there next time I'm in the area. Maybe post one from there on here later. The wash between Black Mtn and Ledge Point from the Birdseye trail?
It is in the general Red Canyon area. But it is not in main canyon where highway 12 goes through.Red Cyn?
Maybe thinking of Casto Canyon? That one has a road through it. This canyon has no road through it. It does have a trailhead at thr mouth of the canyon though. There's a dirt road that cuts through there but I don't know what it's called. It's been a long time...maybe USFS Rd 121.
Is it lower Bowns reservoir and Bowns Point in the distance?I figured somebody would guess this quickly. A hint: the manmade cut in the foreground points directly at a feature on the horizon that shares a name with the reservoir behind me when I took the photo.
It is indeed! Is it lower Bowns reservoir and Bowns Point in the distance?
what is the deal with the manmade cut? is it part of a spillway for the reservoir or something? It is indeed!
Yeah, it's just below the spillway, and dumps the water into Oak Creek. I spent a day last year poking all around the area from above Highway 12 down to Lower Bowns--its history is pretty fascinating. https://www.researchgate.net/public...ial_Investigations_at_the_Pleasant_Creek_Sitewhat is the deal with the manmade cut? is it part of a spillway for the reservoir or something?

I see the moose with a cute little dewlap
We came up over a little hill and then that moose walked out of the bushes. It took a look at us then just laid down in the snow. Exactly in the path we were wanting to go. Almost like it didn't want us going any further. Which we did end up just turning around at that point.I see the moose with a cute little dewlap
