Guess the spot: Maps Edition

Almost made it there last year...

Grave Lake in the Wind River Range was the answer, for those left hanging. Darn, now I have to find another one...

OK, I'm going to go a little hard on you all for this one, just to break you all out of the mountain states so you can look at something different for a bit. I'll give you a hint: the state is the one in which I live.

Name this geologic area (for lack of a better term. We don't have mountain ranges here). Good luck!

Well let's see, there's Pine Ridge, The Nebraska National Forest, and the White River valley in there.

Nice job. You're up. I was just going for the Pine Ridge but you added some bonus features.

Staying in the prairie states... A National Park unit.

Um... I don't have anything figured out for the next post, but that's the Elkhorn Ranch unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It took me a while to figure it out because I didn't know about this tiny unit of the park. Never have made it up there, but it's on the long list for someday, along with other far northern plains locations like the Missouri River Breaks.

Might have to wait until sometime tomorrow for me to find a new map.

Nope. Scroll up and you will see that b.Stark already guessed Grave lake correctly.
I'm not very good at the internet apparently. To give myself some credit, about 10 seconds after I posted it, I realized 1) it's grave lake, and 2) I missed a whole bunch of posts in there. I will now slink into my corner to do penance.

I once skipped three pages unknowingly and was guessing a really old spot. Nobody seemed to notice, as the spots were both lakes. But when I screw up, I like to follow the Possum Lodge motto - Quando omni flunkus moritati - When all else fails, play dead.

I did that once also, but when I make a mistake, no one misses it. Love the Red Green reference.

As my band teacher once said if you're going to make a mistake, make it loud and proud!

Did you play the tuba by any chance? I bet you didn't. :)

I was going to say we treat ladies with chivalry but that might be considered inappropriate.
For chivalrous proof, refer to this photo of Art chivalrously helping his wife (who is chivalrously carrying HIS pack on top of hers) while climbing Electric Peak in Yellowstone. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Hunh. The elevations are too low for the areas I would've guessed based on features/morphology. This is an area with which I am not familiar.

After 2 months of no guesses, are we due a hint yet?

Yeah I should probably give a hint, or a more zoomed out map shot. I know a few people on the forum have been to this area, and it has already appeared in this thread before.
