OK, here's a look from way out. Hope this helps. otherwise I'll move on to another. It's the 3 peaks covered up.

Whew, lotta crickets here. This is the 3rd-highest peak (formerly believed to be the highest) in its range. In Alaska.

Mount Chamberlain in the Brooks Range?

All this really does is make me want to go back to Alaska even more... ugh.

The Alaska hint got me in the right area, the rest was just lots of spare time and Caltopo.

Deleted my spot because I think I've used it before. Give me a few to find a new one.

I briefly skimmed around AK but figured it would be Montana or something given the clues. Not a lot of north-south lakes of that size to be found though. Haha. Waterton was the closest I could find that resembled it.

No. But this is near one.

Hmm, BWCA area is definitely close. Wrong side of the border, though.

I'm not sure I've ever talked of it much here, but that big island is where I spent my first ever night out in the backcountry. So, it's within a day's canoe journey (with a few portages) of a launch and road.

Edit to add a further hint: The lake has the name of a fish.
