Hmm a developed campground on a paved road at 7k on an Indian rez, near a canyon system... no idea but very intrigued!

You are right on all accounts. One of the main ruins in the area is shown, the other is a good hike along the road/trail heading off the top of the map.

Wow, that brings back a few memories. Hiking around there in the snow and cold in January.

This is a place dear to me, as it was one of my grandpa's fav fishing spots and we used to hang around here a lot. The grave at the far left bottom corner is someone very famous in this part of the canyon country, though you kind of have to be a history buff. It's not close to any towns, but there is park service stuff not too far away. What's the river (either one), the park, the mountain, or even the general area? This isn't in Utah.
