Our original plan was to go around via Flat Rock, Copepod and Cladocera but we made a route change on the fly and went via Robble/Gravel/Till. I don't know that I would classify it as difficult, more like challenging most of the time. You won't be bouldering/rock climbing unless you want to do so but the terrain is definitely rougher in those areas. It is slow hiking also, I would plan on about 1 mile per hour on average. Thanks for the post! I am planning a similar route for this summer up through that flat rock lake. copepod lake area. Is it pretty difficult picking routes through that stuff as you get closer to the big mountains/beartooth wall?
The pictures titled "She who walks on water", "Off trail in the Beartooths" and "down the outlet creek from Red Rock Lake" are probably a good representation of the terrain you will face.
