2016 Total YTD: 14 Nights

Jan 1 > Alstrom Point > 1 Night
Jan 21 > Glen Canyon: Smith Fork & Forgotten Canyon > 3 Nights
Feb 26 > Arches & Island in the Sky > 1 Night
Mar 11 > Capitol Reef, GCNRA, Natural Bridges, Cedar Mesa, The Needles > 2 Nights
March 31-April 3 > Glen Canyon: Rincon, Iceberg, Escalante > 3 Nights
April 20-24 > Dark Canyon into Cataract Canyon Packraft + Bonus night w/ Glen Canyon Institute > 4 Nights

Two of our four campsites from this trip. The first in Dark Canyon near the bottom of the Sundance Trail, the second on the banks of the Colorado River in Cataract Canyon. Both taken the same day, the first in the morning, the second just after sunset.

And we finally got a couple more bag nights, in the Great Smoky Mountains. Over on the Tennessee side, which we generally avoid (because there are far fewer people on the NC side), but it's an area that is famous for its wildflowers (Cosby, Greenbrier / Porters Creek) and rightfully so. Not a lot of trail miles for us on this trip (16), but the wildflowers were indeed amazing.

AND... we made it back home in time for the birth of our second grandchild. :D

I think we're up to 4 bag nights for 2016. And we have a 5-6 night trip coming up in a few weeks, in the Slickrock/Citico wildernesses, to pad our count a bit more.

I'm just going to throw this out there.

I will win this year.

@Artemus I'm quitting my job in a month and doing nothing but backpacking all over the Rockies this summer. I can't tell you how excited I am!

It may be much later this year, but I promise a TR for each trip. :)

Good on ya! Please at least keep us up to date on where you are. Perhaps this thread would be a good update place?

All clear until after Bear Flat. I'd say probably a good foot or two between Slate and Slide.
Right on. I did Y Mountain a month ago, and it sounds like it hasn't changed much. Did you posthole it all the way around?

No, we just went up and back down the Y Trail. That whole loop would have killed some of the scouts as it was a first time backpacking for a few of them. I'll post a little TR of it soon.

Looking forward to it!

No more thread jacking from me. To make up for it, I'll post my measly numbers.

January 29 - 1 night - Spring Canyon, Capitol Reef

March 11 - 1 night - Willow Springs Rd.

For a total of 2 nights.

Should've had one at Chesler Park in February. After we had set up camp and everything, we had a run in with some hungry ravens, and we ended up hiking out before sunset. Still debating posting a TR for that one...

This has been my worst outdoor year ever. 2 bag nights. Pathetic. Hoping to ramp this up quite a big for the second half.

January sometime - bluff balloon trip.
March sometime - moab
