Being that I am a single mom busting my ass! I am going to count my first night under the stars in tent as Thursday night.... in the backyard after a day of skiing. In my defense we would have camped out tonight on our way to The Wave but Sarah and I both volunteered for True Grit today and were beat! So night one down! Hoping the next night is a much further away from home.

Just got back from spending 4 nights on that purty blue tarp. That photo was taken on the second night of the trip in Llewellyn Gulch. It was one of the finest, most wilderness-filled and most amazingly epic trips I've ever had the pleasure (and pain) to experience. Thanks for the tip moose droppings.

Spent 3 nights on Cedar Mesa this weekend. Veeeerrrrryyy nice... Except I tried to break in new shoes, and after 14 miles of canyon hiking on Friday my feet were a blistered hot spotted wreck. Even worse after another 14 miles the next day. They hurt, but they'll heal .

No pics yet, but saturday was WINDY!!!

You got that right! I had to retreat from my camp high on the reef called Capital. Even after pitching my tent behind an ancient juniper the inside of the tent was thrumming and the walls were being beat by pebbles and sand on the outside and, in turn, beating me senseless on the inside.

I moved back down into UMT canyon Saturday evening and repitched the tent in shelter under some trees and bushes and guyed the crap out of it. Still had a sleepless night even with earplugs in. I got more sleep than the birds I'll bet.
