Backcountry Vehicles

Finally took some proper photos of my new backcountry vehicle while out on my New Years trip. I put a 2.5" leveling kit on it to bring the front up, added an Undercover Flex folding tonneau and peeled off the stupid stickers. Really loving this truck so far. The color is pretty cool too. It changes from a muted green to pure grey depending on the light conditions. Feature wise, I thought adaptive cruise was a bit silly at first, but after driving to Big Water and back this week, I never want to drive something without it again!

Well now you got it all dirty...and probably scratched up the bed!
Ho dare you use a truck for its intended use.

And how did you keep it so clean !?!? at least in some of the pics..

Current Rig
2014 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition - of 10 owned trucks this is hands-down the best performing truck I've owned both on the highway and on the tough stuff. 50 mph gravel washboard - check. More difficult 4WD to the Maze Overlook at speed - check! I love this truck. And then @Nick let me drive his new Ford....

Didn't know a 4 runner was a truck.....

It's just the light. All of those shots were within an hour of each other at the same place.

Didn't know a 4 runner was a truck.....

I am also guilty of calling SUVs trucks. It just rolls of the tongue so well. My wife frequently takes issue with me calling her 4Runner a truck.

For you Tacoma folks...I'm looking at getting one (probably a 2012-2014). How big is the difference between the SR5 and TRD packages?

I used to be Tacoma folk and I think the off road shocks are worth getting. With that said, you can add them yourself. I'm not sure how important the skid plates are and I rarely have needed to use my rear differential lock, although it's nice to know it's there.

Great to hear that 4runners still have the stuff, my old one is going to need to get replaced eventually...

Took my 4runner+trailer combo down south past weekend. Wanted to drive on some easy off road trails, went to Swell on friday and ran Shafer/Potash trail on saturday.

Nice! (for a jeep :D) But seriously, it looks great. Are you moving over all of your accessories?

Yeah, they are all in my garage right now until I have the time to install them again. The trade happened so quickly that I spent every evening after work the week before driving up to SLC in the garage replacing all the accessories back to stock stuff again.
