I have finally found my backcountry vehicle! VW's The Thing!

I saw this in Jackson, on my way home from my Snake River Trip. Reminded me of when I was a kid. My friends parents owned one (orange and black) and I occasionally got to go for a ride in it. Strolling down memory lane here folks.

I rapped on the side of it, and I believe it is grizzly proof. Close the top and it's bound to be scent proof? It's light enough to throw a rope around the bumper and hoist up a bear pole or a tree if need be. Deep rivers won't be an issue, because it looks like it can float. And best of all @Rockskipper, if I fold the back seats down, I'm pretty sure I can fit Dooley in the back.

Why haven't I thought of this before? I'll tell you why, because I am an idiot!

Think the fire department will sell it to me?

I think Dooley is eyeballing it for his milk can run here in the Aves, due to his Grassy Lake Road appearances recently.

They are collector vehicles now...fairly rare

Glamor shot at sunset last night. Upgraded the truck to a 3/4 ton so I can (eventually) drop a bed camper in it. @Nick how's your flatbed camper working out? Still using it?
