Backcountry Vehicles

I have finally found my backcountry vehicle! VW's The Thing!

I saw this in Jackson, on my way home from my Snake River Trip. Reminded me of when I was a kid. My friends parents owned one (orange and black) and I occasionally got to go for a ride in it. Strolling down memory lane here folks.

I rapped on the side of it, and I believe it is grizzly proof. Close the top and it's bound to be scent proof? It's light enough to throw a rope around the bumper and hoist up a bear pole or a tree if need be. Deep rivers won't be an issue, because it looks like it can float. And best of all @Rockskipper, if I fold the back seats down, I'm pretty sure I can fit Dooley in the back.

Why haven't I thought of this before? I'll tell you why, because I am an idiot! :scatman:

Think the fire department will sell it to me?

Well you can be sure that it won’t be able to outrun a grizzly.

Get one..... I'll build you a engine to outrun most

A quick Google search for these Things for sale shows prices up to $25k!

Glamor shot at sunset last night. Upgraded the truck to a 3/4 ton so I can (eventually) drop a bed camper in it. @Nick how's your flatbed camper working out? Still using it?
