Yellowstone Backcountry Permits Available Online In 2022

While you guys are gallivanting around Yellowstone, I'll be sitting by the shores of Kintla Lake. I scored a one-day driving permit for the North Fork. It took several tries and I can't believe how fast they go each day, like in seconds. I've been up there various times but never had to get a permit.
Part of me wonders if most people reserving don't even know anything about the North Fork area, and it's just spillover from people who didn't get the GTTS Road permits. I was up at Kintla last July, and although there was a decent number of people there, it wasn't crowded. Hardly saw any cars on the North Fork Road when we were walking around the Big Prairie area. I figure if anything, this is just going to put the area more on the map and make it even harder for people to be able to enjoy it.

I'm just going to get there at 6 a.m. when I go. I think, aside from Bowman Lake, it's kind of absurd anything in that area has ticketed entry now.

That was off topic but I couldn't resist. Haha.

I've seen that video, including its predecessor, at least 100 times over the years. I'm guessing only the trip leader actually has to watch it.
According to the website, everyone on the trip has to watch it. I usually tell them I watched it 2-3 times (which is true) in the weeks leading up to the trip and they have given me a pass on having to watch it in the office.

Interesting. I've picked up the official permit in the past without all of the group being there for the video. Some of the group who were driving in from a different direction met us at the trailhead. The person issuing the permit made sure that I knew to pass along the pertinent information for camping in the backcountry thpough.

I think that you are just trying to get out of your Yellowstone obligations. We (myself and some not to be named BCP members) may need to devise an elaborate kidnapping plan to get you from Glacier back to God's Country (Yellowstone). I've still got a crate from transporting those grizzlies from GYE to the Sierras with you. I'll try and make the crate as comfortable as possible for your journey. Beware of the Marauding BCPers!

Will there be a patch to sew onto our backpacks?
Once Hugh and I are done with you you'll be able to add the "Horizontal Lumber Lads" badge to your sash. . . maybe even the "Dudes of Downfall" if you are agile enough. :)

Excellent! Once again, I had forgotten the "Horizontal Lumber." Cracked me up. :roflmao: The "Dudes of Downfall" has a nice ring to it too.
