Wind River Backpacking Recommendations

Hey there Nick. We are planning another trip to the Winds. Wondering how the fishing was there in the Deep Creek area. Hope all went well.

We didn't make it there. Took a stranger that way oversold her skills/experience and ended up only making it to Stough Creek Lakes. :(

Think about this one:
From Green River Lakes go around the sw side of the lower Green River lake then up Porcupine Creek and over Porcupine pass. Down to North Fork trail then turn right up to Lozier Lakes Basin. From there you can go past Clark Lake and connect up with the Highline trail and back to Green River Lakes. If you go around the ne side of the lower Green River lake you can do the whole trip and never step on the same place twice.
Green River lakes and the Highline trail are very busy, but not many people go to Porcupine Creek because they are headed to other places deeper into the Winds. The whole route is about 37 miles and the views are fantastic. I know there are lots of fish in Clark lake and there are other lakes up the Porcupine Creek drainage that are seldom visited.
Another bonus is that I believe you are able to get to the top of Square Top from near Lozier Lakes-at least it looks doable on the map.
Good luck and enjoy whatever you do

What if you did a loop from the Cirque over Texas Pass, Washakie Pass, and Lizard Head Pass? I have no idea how many miles that is off-hand but it seems like a nice, beautiful, amazing trip. Texas Pass is off-trail, but only in the strictest sense of the word.
