I found an old abandoned trail on my off-trail wanderings in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes NP.
Hopefully, in the next few weeks, I will find more information about it, such as its age and where it used to go. Even my old historic map from 1984 does not have the trail on it.
Iʻm heading back in a few days and will try to walk it as far as I can; maybe I will find more clues.
Itʻs cool. The ahu( cairns) are still there, but a huge 15-foot-wide crack on the fault line prevented me from going any further on the north side of the fault.

Trails are much appreciated in this terrain :)
Chiricahua National Monument in Arizona.

We ran into a ranger checking in on a trail maintenance crew and he said way back in the days five CCC engineers said, a trail through that terrain wasn’t possible. Luckily Ed Riggs disagreed!

The easy part of the trail. Usually we’re up high, right side of the canyon, but we’re trying to NOT get re-injured!

Been trying to do as much hiking locally as possible this winter, both to keep in some semblance of shape and to get myself outside more (my job makes it a bit tough to do that). It has been an extremely dry winter here, so it's been pretty easy to get out on the trails, at least when the wind and temps cooperate.

Here's a selection of some trail photos from the past several weeks:

On New Year's Day I had just gotten off a 12 hour night shift, so opted for a rather mundane walk on the path around a local lake

Almost all the rest of my hiking has been on trails at a state park.

This is about as much snow as I've had to deal with this winter

Killing time this cold Monday morning by looking back at some great pics of beautiful trails. Couldn't help but add some from several Colorado treks these last few years.
