Nice! Stinkin Lincoln. Did you make it to the lake? One of the most overgrown, secluded trails in the park. And what a steep climb to start. The lake is beautiful though.
According to the 2019 trail status report this hike is now 80% sun exposure due to the Sprague Fire. I can't imagine that!

Trail# 1934, Wallowa Mountains, Oregon.

This is the trail to Echo Lake, beautiful area. The trail continues to Traverse Lake but I was tired and the afternoon thunder showers were gearing up.

Hidden Canyon in Winter

View attachment 79251
Pics from there kinda freak me out. I tried to get into Hidden Canyon at the start of a trip in the first week of March 2011, after what I think was record snow. Turned back when the trail was completely blocked by a pile of snow covering the trail like \. Had to go rent snowshoes later that day.
Later, I saw pictures with those chains. I didn't remember any chains there, or the trail being sloped, or quite that narrow. 'Cause I was apparently walking on a shelf of snow and ice...
There was no snow the next October, though!:)

Mt. Ellinor trail. Olympic National Forest in Washington State.

Took a hike with a hundred of my closest friends. Can't believe how many people hike this trail these days. I believe my last time up was mid to late 90's.

This is not a long hike, but it is steep. From the upper trailhead you gain about 1000ft in the first mile, around 1500ft gain in just under a mile to finish off.

This week we spent 4 days hiking in The Needles, Canyonlands with 3 nights camping at Squaw flat CG under the full moon. It was super bright at night, with just 1/2 hour of stargazing. Hiking was amazing, as always. Here are some trail photos:

Day1, Devil’s pocket loop from Elephant Hill TH
