I've never heard of people actually starting on foot at the highway. That's wild. I'm a fan of Leidy being the 'full version' and Chepeta being the abbreviated.
One more comment... starting at the highway seems pretty arbitrary. If you were doing the true spine of the Uintas, it seems that Leidy would be the start and someone really doing the whole thing would go all the way to Kamas. Just look at the topography...
Great accomplishment guys. I would love to attempt this in the next few years, but at the same time I am not sure how much I would enjoy it.
My laid back personality makes me wonder if I would enjoy feeling "forced" to go the minimum distance every day. I like to keep my trips kind of open ended, so if I am really enjoying a particular area I stay there an extra day, or move on somewhere else, etc... that wouldn't really be an option for this type of trip. Have any of you who completed this struggled with that at all? Found yourself wishing you could have spent more time in a particular area instead of having to keep going?
