Scatman, Thanks for the nice trip report and photos as always. Have been many a time back in here. Now that campsite at 8C2 is one of my favorites and have been there many a time. So they have bear boxes there now. Great! Looks like you had a great trip! Looks like that country has survived this summer of heat, drought, and fires. Yea!
Now as for myself, haven't been around as of late. Just got back from a big part of the summer up in Alaska including seeing the Aleutians. Incredible! Now will post a trip report. But thanks again for this trip report with photos of this hike of yours.
Wishing You the Best!
We hiked to Cascade Lake on the day we arrived into the park. We thought about Observation Peak but it was a bit smoky, enough that it was causing me to have a sore throat. On our one full day we did the loop hike of part of the Wapiti Lake trail then cutting across to Ribbon Lake and hiking back on the Clear Lake trail. Didn't see a single person on the Wapiti Lake section but did have a run in with a bison. I will write a trip report later.
I've done parts of it as a day hike. And I soaked in the Snake River Hot Springs.
Great trip, this is a loop I have in mind as well
We started at the Cascade Lake trailhead just off the road headed toward Tower Falls. This parking area was pretty empty. I think that with the road closed just past it not many people even bothered to turn and go up this far.Which route did you take to Cascade Lake?
