I found my pot of gold today

it was pretty amazing with all the storms rolling in this afternoon. Two thunderstorms within one hour, lots of dramatic skies

Yvonne, I was hiking yesterday in the Virgin River Gorge and found a great place for your star trails photography. I plan to go back some night, and will keep you posted.

I wish I could've joined you, but it's absolutely impossible for me during the week.
My poor myself is limited to weekend trips only

I guess in the future I can post a lot of rainbow shots
Here is one I took on one of the hikes back from the lava field with my clients

Rainbow in Ka'u Desert, Volcanoes NP
It lasted for about 91 minutes, the entire time of my hike back to my car. That was the longest lasting rainbow I've ever seen. Sometimes only parts were visible, sometimes the entire thing

one of the best rainbows of the last few weeks, it was so vibrant and extremely wide, I couldn't capture the whole thing.

today I finally got a decent shot of an anuenue (rainbow) and some lava

played a bit with the rainbows we recently had out here

some of the rainbows are so big, they are hard to get in one frame

not a real rainbow, but a rare moonbow.
It's not easy to get them when you want to and even harder to include some lava in the foreground

this was the lowest rainbow I've seen here on the mainland ever.
Back home in Hawai'i they were often so low, but not so much here.

Huh. I saw this mentioned in another thread, and Googled it up:
"A glory is an optical phenomenon, resembling an iconic saint's halo around the shadow of the observer's head, caused by sunlight or moonlight interacting with the tiny water droplets that compose mist or clouds."
Pretty cool, but kind of a buzzkill. So much for my shadow having a great aura
