Album Night Shots and Star Trails

You had the same idea that I had while I was there, lol

Looking forward to seeing some of your pictures. . . had to post mine first because I know you are a hard act to follow! ;)

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback!
You are correct @Rockskipper @Ugly ; that information is recorded with each image but I don't know the exact exposure time on this one due to the battery cutting out. It is telling me 30 seconds but I bet it was half of that.

it will take a bit as I have to go through so many pictures.
But the images will come pretty soon.

High ISO Star Trail at Duck Lake. I was going for that old grainy film enlargement feel. Not bad for a first attempt. No processing on this minus image stacking. This was shot in multiple exposures.

Its been an awesome summer under the stars. Hoping for one more trip in the Uintas and maybe a Boulder Mountain trip in October.

Some of Rick's evening/night shots from White Pockets last week. Beautiful night, lots of meteors early Friday morning:

Nice tree shadow. No need for light painting, we had a little moon shining.

An air plane passing, dotted/striped lines:

Lots of frost on the window at 2am. We had the windows cracked, but it was 16F.
It might be one of the meteors, right side. Never seen so many meteors!

I love the juxtaposition of cityscape on one side, and this on the other.
These shots were taken only feet from each other... plus the night scene site was chosen for me as I postholed up to my waist as I went off the trail for the angle.

So many cars and people.

The light intrusion are lights for night skiiing.

Anybody else watching the eclipse? Clouds are being a problem but watching through gaps. The colors have been great on this one, moreso than I recall on past lunar eclipses.

Great shot @b.stark ! YES, we watched part of the lunar eclipse, when we walked home after the game. The sky was clear here, but it was single digits or negative and very windy, going into -20 to -30F wind chills by this morning. I'm happy you caught a picture, Rick was not motivated to set up outside.

A lot of clouds here. The haze on the picture below is from the clouds. This is not too far into the partial part of the eclipse and was about as good as it got for me.

2 dog teams arriving at the Tanana checkpoint during the 2015 Iditarod. One of the things that I most enjoyed while helping on the trail was watching teams come in at night. The musher's headlight illuminating the fog from the dogs' breathing in subzero temperatures is a beautiful sight.

Holei Sea Arch at night
The cliff below the arch got a lot of damage by the 60,000 earthquakes we had last summer during the eruption. Who knows how long it will be around in the future.
The image was taken on a moonlit night and in the lower left just above the clouds you can also see the southern cross.
At certain times you can see both the Crux and Big Digger at the same time in Hawai'i.

I've been editing photos and updating my blog trying to get through a 6 month backlog.

My wife and I took a kid free trip to Paris in June, I really don't like cities, but parts were nice :) I really liked walking along the Seine (our hotel was a couple blocks away so it was easy). I especially liked walking at night, very pretty.

I'm posting these because they both have the moon, there are lots more night shots on the blog
