Milky Way Shot from Allegany State Park, NY two weeks ago.
Somehow the Milky Way looks brighter and more intense in the West. When I compare my NY shots with all your backpacking Milky Way shots they are much brighter and really more intense.
I guess you have less light pollution than we have here in the East

I do. This shot had one but I cloned it out.
It really just depends on where you are, I always get 6 or 7 per trail when I shoot in Escalante.

a few from my last camping trip in Allegany SP in New York. I had to focus manually in the dark, because it surprisingly cleared up and I hadn't changed my camera settings before it was getting dark(it was pouring!!)
