Live tonight from camp... The Moon just rose (iPhone shot, Rick should get some great shots tonight). Going to watch the meteors from here tomorrow night.

Spectacular Moon rise every night at camp....
Last evening we even had one dark hour to stargaze, some stars were reflected in the lake, untill the moon rose. We also saw a few meteors at 2am, but they moon crashed the party a bit!

the vertical shots show a lot more stars, but they are uploading sideways here from camp. I haven’t been able to upload to Google photos yet.

Moon rise Saturday evening, we camped 4 nights at that lake.
A star was reflected in the lake that evening, the clouds were moving.

Wow - spectacular supermoon shots! Too cloudy here in Michigan to see much of it.

This morning we had an unusual event as the moon passed in front of Mars. This is a composite of 4 photos taken over 30 minutes as the Moon approaches Mars. Mars is the set of tiny dots to the lower left of the Moon. I had intended to taken the pictures at even intervals... but didn't quite get that done. I didn't get any pictures after Mars reappeared because the sun had risen and Mars was no longer visible.

Cool huh? We were actually forecast to have overcast skies and I was thinking that this would be another unusual astrological event that I would miss because of weather. But I got up early anyway and was surprised to see that the sky was mostly clear. Mars is pretty faint right now - not even as bright as some stars. I had to check the camera monitor to make sure it was there!

just a cheap old Sony A6000 and then my 70-350mm lens. All shots are handheld because I forgot my mini tripod that day.
The camera is not the best at all for low light situations and often has issues. Maybe one day I'll upgrade to a full-frame Sony
