I just learned that my friend and long-time Backcountry Post member @gnwatts passed away a few days before Christmas. His son posted this on his Facebook page last night:

I had the pleasure of Greg's company on many trips, both on the water and by foot. I'll never forget that first float trip we did on Ruby Horsethief when he hauled most of our gear in his canoe when we were in duckies. I still can't believe he kept it upright through a couple of the bigger riffles. Greg had a deep appreciation for wild places and making the most of the time he had. We had been talking about getting together this fall and it just didn't work out. He was a great guy and I will miss him.

My sweet girl Sage passed away right before Christmas as well. It sounds like it might have been the same day. Float on, my friend.

So sorry to hear about Greg as well as Sage. I enjoyed many of Greg's posts over the years here on BCP and he was a talented photographer.

Sage was a beautiful pup, and it looks like she had a great life.

These passings are so very hard. I don't live that far from where Greg lived, and we planned to get together one of these days, but time moves along regardless of one's intentions.
