nope. i don't think the spot with the swim is typical. it wasn't even very narrow, and only about 10 feet long.

I was there in November and there were a couple swims; one quite short and one longer. Both toward the end.

Great report, Tim! I just got back from spending two nights camped right under that grand alcove in the cover shot. Thanks for the tip!

Was the turn around spot here?

The swimmer turned out to be about nipple deep on me (here: http://goo.gl/maps/pH5XV). I gave colefeet a piggy back ride through and we went all the way to the other end and then out to the top of the canyon to peek back down in. NateGeesaman - the spot you mentioned was about waist deep on me yesterday. I left my camera on my chest going through it.

it turns out those big guys in the group come in handy for more than just spotting on scary downclimbs. avoiding swimmers on overcast chilly days is where it's at!!!!
