Nick, I agreed with you with the Escalante area. It's somewhere there, that's what I meant with getting warmer.
But the Escalante area is big :)

So I will summarize my hints:

It's somewhere in the Escalante area, but which direction?
you have to scramble a little bit, I would say it's class II, you get wet feet.
It's no NP or SP

I guess, some of you have been there and at the end of that trail there is something made of sandstone.
The trailhead is reached without traveling offroad

Looks like the Calf Creek area to me.. but I am sure that is wrong with the scrambling statement.. I suck at these

Wrong side of UT 12 :)

you have to cross UT 12.

Another hint: there are two different access ways to get to my object.
You either cross UT 12 or you use

here is another view a little closer with part of the scrambling section

Oh this one is going to be fun.

This photo was taken by my father around 1956.

Hint: this road gets a lot more traffic nowadays.

Where is it? :)

Capitol Reef, north of 24, heading towards Cathedral Valley?

I was thinking the Notom road headed south...

The road headed south toward grand wash.. scenic drive south out of the campgrounds?

Burr trail Road or Highwaty 24

Highway 12?
