are you on the rim of some side drainage that feeds into Cottonwood wash in the northeastern part of the swell?

I'm almost certain this is an upper fork of Nate's, but very nearby to what you said-- take it away

Ahh, Makes sense. Only been in that area once when I did a loop with Cottonwood Wash and I thought I recognized some of the rocks and farther peaks in your photo from when I was over there. Must have been a little farther off from where I was.

Are you looking into Casto Canyon from near the Cassidy Trail? Closest I've been is Rich Trail/Ledge Point from Red Canyon. But I love that geography where the Claron Formation rises up into the volcanic rocks like Black Mountain and have been wanting to reach further.
