GRAND Canyon - Escalante Route - April 8-14, 2026

Looks awesome! The invite must have gotten lost in the mail. LOL. Thanks for posting. Your reports always provide a lot of great intel.

I'm planning to do this in the fall so I'll be coming back to this for some intel and motivation.

What an amazing report @Janice !

So many wonderful postcard quality pictures - I'm glad you had such a positive experience. You can tell you did your research and planned well ahead of time.

As someone that tends to write long trip reports, I'd say yours was just right. Just like when you were tackling that last stretch of uphill. . . I did not want it to end! :)

Great photos and report. I have been lucky enough to be through there a few times, and your pics tell it like it is. I thought I could add a couple of things for others who may be planning for this trip that I have experienced. First, within 10 minutes we have always been able to find a ride back to our car at Lipan point from some nice person after coming off trail. A paid for shuttle has never been necessary for us. Second, the rangers at the backcountry office in the Grand Canyon have always been extremely helpful and forthcoming with up to date water reports. It seems the Grand Canyon is unique when it comes to their honest spring reports. Lastly, it is pretty easy to get walk up permits for this route. We either stay in the Mather campground, or outside the park on forest land waiting the day or two before a walk up permit opens up. This year we actually started our trip on the very first day we arrived in the park. We have never had to wait more than two nights to get a good walk up permit.

Again, great Pics!
