Gear storage

Milk crates for frequently used gear. Just stack them. Backpacks hanging on the wall (all 5 of em). Sleeping bags in their storage sacks laid flat. BA Aircore laid flat and open under a bed.

Here's a pic of my gear storage which is just my garage. I haven't completely organized everything but it's there.

I lay my sleeping pads flat with the valves open. The sleeping bags go in their storage bags and then a couple days before a trip I usually pulled them inside. We use our gear regularly so it's been nice to have a little space to put everything.

I am also dealing with limited storage space, but wondering if anyone has had any issue storing gear in a cold space. Has the change in temperature damaged your stuff? I have an unheated room attached to my house and I live in Minnesota where it is cold much of the year. It was used by the previous owner as a hot tub room. Lots of windows, cedar panel walls, it's nice. But it is cold. I'm thinking of making it a man cave complete with gear storage. Just wanted to make sure the Arctic air won't destroy something.

Be careful with water filters, particularly those that use hollow fibers.

Everything I own, except what fits in my cartop carrier, is in this, except down sleeping bags, which I hang off the back of my bedroom door in their loose-fit sacks. If I can't fit it in this, I don't need it, but I travel light (no kids, etc.). I bought it from the guy with the green car in the photo for $600. It's easy to hitch and pull.
