Flash Floods

Yup, from Emerald Mile. I don't recall whether it cited how long it would take for Lake Powell to drain but a few pages before the excerpt above, it discussed the breach of the Teton River Dam in eastern Idaho in 1976 and says that it took 42 minutes for the reservoir to drain from the time the embankment was breached. Lake Powell is much larger though and there are a gazillion factors when it comes to hydraulic dynamics so that may not really mean anything though.
 
Whoa! Now that was close. I was not that far downstream the same day but didn't see any rain at all.

They were relatively chill about the whole thing. I'd have been screaming with excitement like a little girl. Wonder what they were smoking...
