I hiked up to Lake Blanche on Friday monring for the first time and was not disappointed at all. I left the trailhead around 6:30am and was lucky enough to catch the sun rise. I hiked around the two other lakes, ate lunch and took my time coming down. I didn't get back to my car until around 3:30pm.
I must have passed you on my way up. I left the trailhead at 2:30 to spend the night. It looks like you had better light than though. Wow, that is gorgeous!
ok people, I'm headed to Salida, CO from Salt Lake for a week. want to stop in, drive though, or overnight (1 night) backpack through some nice leaves on the way. SUggestions for places going off right now? i'll be headed down to 70 and across to grand junction, then can either go along highway 50 to salida or stay on 50 and cut down south through aspen, or highway 24. the possibilities are endless but the leaves aren't. I leave Wednesday. suggestions?
Not the most spectacular color display this year, but still a week or 2 off from peak in some areas. This is Clear Creek on the Cumberland Plateau, one of the wild and free tributaries that flow into the Obed National Wild & Scenic River in Tennessee. The whitewater and scenery never get old...
What an awesome looking place to paddle. I don't think my pungo would fare too well on those rapids.
