I refuse to choose. I need both. I require the various sensory stimulation both environments give me. I can't imagine only having one in my life. I played in the mountains two weeks ago skiing and enjoying fresh powder turns. I am done with winter at this point and have escaped for a week in the desert. Both are so beautiful. Red rock and sand sculpted to perfection or vast magnificent views when you stand on top of a mountain. I might even require a beach scene once in a blue moon.

I'm just glad that everyone in the world isn't the same as me. All the trails would overcrowded and I think life would be really boring.

I'm all about the mountains. The one activity I love in the desert is offroading but because of the heat (I hate the heat) I avoid the desert from May to mid September.
 
Oh man. To me it's a quantity vs quality thing, personally. If push came to shove, if take a 2 week trip in the mountains over a 2 week trip in the desert (but just barely.

On the other hand, desert is accessible 9 months out of the year. Mountains, about 3.

Final answer: desert mountain ranges. :)
 
I like both, but for logistical reasons I usually spend more time in the desert. I
