The advantage to the way I took is that you avoid about 200 feet of elevation. The disadvantage is obviously that it's longer. But at least you have multiple options.

Thank you for the reply! We're going to enter at said point, so no steep uphills.

For those interested I did an altitude analysis of this entrance point and it's just shy of a 700 foot descent from the water tank to the floor of the wash and just over 2.5 miles.
 
It's crazy how popular that place is now. My first and only time in coyote was probably 10 years ago, I went in April and I don't remember seeing anybody else down there the entire time. It's sad to hear that it's a zoo now.

I went with my old scout troop 15-16 years ago, and it was crowded enough back then. Sad? sure, but there is still plenty where there is no one.
