Album Best of 2012

I discovered a few more saved shots from this year on my computer. They are definitely not all my favorites, but at least I still have a few shots of some interesting places. :)

Post your best/favorite pics you took in 2012 here.

I'll kick it off with this one I took on January 1, 2012 at Coyote Buttes South. I hope this big swollen, torn up knee of mine is good enough to be doing something similar on January 1, 2013. :)

Holy smokes Nicholas! I think this may be the THREAD OF THE YEAR! Thank you all "Members of BackcountryPost.com"! Enjoy wilderness! What a great backyard we have.... Sorry for all the exclamation marks.

Stunning Dennis, really. What do you mean by "favorited on Flickr"?
Thank you. :) By most favorited, I meant that the photos were added to others users' favorites the most (Flickr lets you sort images by "interestingness", favorites, views, etc.).

Phenomenal pictures, everyone! I wish I had anything that could even merit being posted in the same thread! Maybe I'll have better luck next year when I buy this new camera.

That's a good idea, I'll take the liberty of doing the same since I only posted two pictures so far.

And lastly favoriting doesn't always reflect the quality of the picture, sometimes content is king

That shot of the scenic drive in Zion is amazing! I was there two weeks earlier when I got my Zion snowstorm shot. February seems to be a good month for dramatic winter scenes-will be going back next year!

This is one of my favorite places to fish. Great capture!

Thanks Justin! I've never fished High Creek before...

Austin, nice ! Did you ever see momma or poppa? What species of bird was it do you think?
I didn't see Mama Bird but I'm sure she was nearby. I only setup for one composition and then put a little distance between me and the nest while I photographed the rest of the canyon. I didn't want to do anything that would make her abandon the nest.

I'm a n00b to photography as I just use a point-n-shoot Canon S95 right now, but I'm looking to make the jump to the full DSLR soon. I'm thinking about the Nikon D5100 for great image quality on a shoestring budget. BTW, great shots all. I'm loving the lightning / star trails. Anyhow, here's some of my best efforts:

Awesome! That S95 takes some great shots. I have one but I'm trying to sell it to replace with a Panasonic G5. Welcome to backcountrypost!

Very nice!!! BTW - I picked up the D5100 (with 18-55mm kit lens) last spring and have really enjoyed it!!! I was using a Canon G7 before (which I loved), but it was time to upgrade, the 5100 fit my needs and budget the best! I hope to pick up the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 really soon!

I totally agree!! I loved my S95 and have taken most of my pictures this year with it.
Just replaced it with the S100.
Somehow I've taken more pictures with that little one than with my D7000.
I only use my D7000 for night shots and long exposures

NIce work, JKW! Some of us are converting to Micro 4/3 instead of DSLR too. Look here and other posts on BCP for info and opinions. Welcome.

Good on ya' for not wanting to disturb the nest. But it may have been poppa...many bird fathers sit the nest too, or even by themselves.
