The 2016 Bag Night Challenge is now officially closed to new entries. Please camp! in 2017 and record your nights here.

Nice, @Artemus! One of these years I'm going to catch up to you! You just made me realize that 2016 was a personal best for me too. Previous best was 54 so I'm glad I didn't miss any of those nights last year! Although I think I'm resetting my ongoing goal to 40. 50 is a lot of camping when you have a job and other obligations. :scatman:

I tried to camp out during the cold spell but my wife told me I was an idiot and get my butt back in the house. In all fairness it was between 30-40 below with wind chill.

You win. Your wife was correct.
My nights where balmy in comparison. Calm. 24 & 12. Piece of cake.

It sounds stupid on the surface but I actually have the gear to pull it off. I have two bags rated at -20. One makes a perfect over quilt for the other. The main thing was to get experience with a vapor barrier. I have been reading a lot about Scott and Shackleton in Antarctica lately. I don't know many people who have been through those extreme temps so I figured I would jump on the chance. Maybe next time there is a cold spell my wife will be out of town and I can bag a night out. I was hoping for a good ice filled selfie to post.

Wayne, where do you live that is so warm in the winter? Puerto Rico? Most of us are struggling with the point where deg C is the same as deg F. Minus 40.

I had 11...haha, I'm not last!

I think the most nights I have logged outdoors was 18. So only getting 13 in not to bad. But i need to step it up. I have goals this year lots of one nighters on a bike exploring my surroundings.

I'm sorry I haven't been active for a long time, so I don't really deserve any recognition on this forum. But, I just went back through my calendar and added up all my bag nights last year. The total comes to 60 nights! Figured I walked approximately 500 miles over the summer. Special thanks to @Artemus for a fantastic dinner and letting me crash for the night (much appreciated). It was also great meeting @Nick and company near Bryce Canyon.
