Bag Night Challenge 2014

Let me know how it goes with your kids, I've though about it, but my girls are 3 and 1. I think they would love it, I just don't know how the sleeping would go. It's hard enough to get them to go to bed at home.
 
i have lots of friends who camp with little ones, as young as 6 weeks. Once the kids get used to camping, they can't get enough.

I think car camping, and even backyard camping, can be great for all ages. My kids love that part. Getting the kids to enjoy going a distance to do it and packing out messy diapers from the youngest will be a different kind of an adventure. Limiting the distance to about a mile with little elevation change will hopefully break them into backpacking nicely. :)

Wear them out with some day hiking and playing and let them stay up a little late with a camp fire and you'll be surprised at how much easier it can be to get them asleep.

As it is I've only started spending nights out for patrol and weather for my first tour kept me inside.
 
He he....job nites count!? Now if I ever get called out, my total will skyrocket ! Don't think I will beat my 2012 total tho.

I would agree, if you are out overnight and not in a hotel or your own bed, then it counts... tent, hamock, tarp, nothing but the bag, what ever goes in my opinion.
 
Chased my kids I was riding my bike and they were on ATVs. Should brought the fat bike instead of my Julianna. We were on old railroad beds! Fun fun....definitely want a kayak after coming up here.

Had planned to get up and spend the first hours of light a few days ago trying to get some coyote pictures then poke around some old indian campsites I know of in the area. But, woke up at 5am with a helluva sore throat and a headache from breathing wildfire smoke all night and the whole area was just thick with smoke. So I just got up, made coffee and motored for the casa. Could see three separate fires from the back deck by that afternoon. One minor rain storm that night and a good heavy area wide soaking yesterday were most welcomed - other than the rain ruined my sightseeing/picture taking plans for the afternoon - no big deal though, rain was worth it.

Total 36 nights.
