Album Arches & Natural Bridges

These are all from my phone, 'cause who knows when I'll go through everything on my camera...

Tried to get a little different perspective than "usual" on a few, but some I just took a quick shot as an afterthought, since the camera was doing all the work..

Druid Arch was from yesterday morning, but I guess you can tell where I went and played for awhile today!

Went back to Arches, and hiked all the remaining trail there, finishing up with Park Avenue twice, since it was in/out.
It's amazing how much fun you can have in a day around here!
These are from where I had breakfast.

One of the great things about visiting Arches out of season was the lack of crowds. Make no mistake, there were people, they were just fairly well dispersed. Aside from sharing a sunrise at Delicate Arch with a total of 8 others, I managed to have each of the arches to myself, even if just for a few fleeting moments at some of the more popular ones.

Split Bow Arch on the KY side of Big South Fork NRRA. Easily accessible from a TH shared with the Bear Creek overlook, on a little .7 mile loop.
I was leaving another TH <9 miles away, and had never seen it, so figured I'd drop by.
The problem with a lot of the larger arches in the East is that it's all wooded, so by the time you're far enough away to fit the whole arch in a pic, you're too far away to really be able to see the whole arch!

This is a truly wonderful hike (well, both, but I'm talking Devil's here), even if crowded. Did it with a friend on her first trip to the desert and she was glowing! Potential for rock art really completes it.

Arch or bridge? The *arch* at Pickett State Park's Arch Lake does fit the criteria to be identified as such(if you zoom in on the upper right corner of its opening, that's not a rock, it's the lip of a dam).
On the other hand, it forms a natural bridge to an island that the water encircles.
I just enjoy the word play. I also enjoy dropping by to see it:)
Pic from The Island(they're not long on imaginative names there-the natural bridge is named..wait for it .."Natural Bridge").

One from the mainland for size perspective:

Gosh, that came out kinda big!

Anyway, here is Natural Bridge...

Those were from Pickett Memorial State Park in TN. These are from the Pogue Creek Canyon State Natural Area, which is adjacent to it. If I don't call it by name, it doesn't have one that I know of.

I suppose this is actually a natural bridge, technically speaking, having formed with the collapse of the wall it's clinging to.

This is Circle Bar Arch, which is attached to an incredibly diverse cliffline with thousands of interesting shapes and inclusions.
