It turns out the basement of this building was flooded, ~4' or so of water. I found this out as the stairwell leading down to it collapsed under me as I paused to let my eyes adjust and think about whether or not to continue. Be careful out there.

It does. BOMBER tent ! Had it nearly 15 years now, Mountain Pass XT1. Only drawback is its heavy, 5# +.

Couple Wind River camps.

I thought about that, but was unsure of conditions on Knife Point "Glacier". Would have rather been skunked trying to go down it and having to adjust plans, than having to turn around and go out the same way after 4 days just to get there. pretty country for sure.

Thanks guys. I've read ID & MT smoke reports/alerts. None of it sounds good. Beartooths seem like they may be ok, but fishing for some 1st hand info never hurts. Cooke City webcam looks ok, but hard to really tell. Is that haze/smoke? Or just low quality video. Gonna contact ranger districts...

Here in Washington its palpable throughout the Olympics & Cascades. Anybody know conditions in the Beartooths, or Winds/Gros Ventre/Washakie? Or Sawtooths/White Clouds in Idaho? Trying to stay NW, Sierra or southern Cascades wouldn't be bad silver medals though.

The only time it worried me was when thunder pealed right over me one time. I never knew thunder could shake a tent!

Not as spectacular as Middle Basin I thought, but still very nice! After Hayden from Middle Basin I rambled along A1 & Klettering (?), enjoying the high views. Mosquitos were still nasty, weather still mostly dry. Another great few days!
