The pictograph? I can't see that in the picture. Maybe something isn't displaying correctly on my computer.
I didn't go down to the ruin because it was in my early days of exploring GG and I was naive about the whole thing.
The only place I've seen all red Cedar Mesa Sandstone/organ rock in the Park is below the Crack. The only named canyon in the area though, is Monument Basin and it is more organ rock
I thought this would be easy, I guess everyone says that. Camera position is below the White Rim in a canyon accessed from the River. A prominent landmark is just out of the picture, and the spot is in the general neighborhood of Lathrop,
Then I'll try Gooseberry or Dogleg. I've been into both from the White Rim to learn the entrances but not hiked deep into either, nor to the river. The big open grassland area in the middle distance is what is confusing to me. No actual white rim sandstone is discernable to me in the picture but I can tell that it is organ rock and/or cedar mesa sandstone. There si a named canyon between Lathrop and Gooseberry but the name evades me at the moment.
I haven't returned to the "Island" in a while, despite the desire to continue exploring below the White Rim. Only places/zones left that are not hard to get BC permits for in the park.
