Zion to Capitol Reef

Just curious, why not sneak out of Fortymile on the north side and head straight for lower Hurricane before it meets Coyote? Or is that what you mean with what you said above about heading toward Sunset? Then why worry about getting out the other side toward Sooner?

That's exactly what I want to do. No desire to exit Sooner (though I might explore from the bottom just to check it out.) Definitely want to exit ACROSS from Sooner on the north side to access the arches en route to upper Hurricane.

That makes more sense. I'd be shocked if you didn't find an easy exit to the north right in here. Real low angle looking stuff over there.

Hey, hike ON Jammer! How many miles, you figure? You going to be leaving a cookie crumb trail online we can follow vicariously in real-time? You will be there while I do the full Death Hollow descent. Leave your inner tube on the pack and join us :) You are right there. Well sort-of.

Thanks, Art. I'm guessing just over 300 miles depending on how many of the side hikes I do. Should be a solid 270 core miles with the pack.

Actually... I do plan to do updates every few days via GPS messenger (Cerberus rental again.) These posts will go directly to my AcrossUtah Facebook page. LIKE it to follow along.

My original plan was go back through Death Hollow! Are you doing it from the top down then? (thus the innertube)

Yep -- that's exactly where I was looking. That dune in the top left of your photo is the one that looks like it goes to top and is covered in animal trails.

I will be following along on your FB page then. Yes we are doing the whole descent from the very top. Strenuous but 1/10 of your miles. We do have to wrestle with poison ivy though...
