Yellowstone traffic

Where in the park did you stay? My wife and I are camping at Canyon campground in a bit less than a month.

We were at Old Faithful for one night, then Grant Village for one night, then Canyon for three nights, all in the lodges. Next time there will be more planing and I plan on camping. From a driving point of view, the only bad stretch was the Upper/Middle basin area in the middle of the day.

I plan to completely avoid that area. We will be entering through the west entrance and then go up through Norris. All of our day hikes will be within a short drive of Canyon Village. We camped at Grant Village last year and thought the campground was pretty nice. We stayed in the tent only area which kept the noise down because there were no generators.
