Wind Rivers NE Corner - 9 Days of Heaven ......

Holy smokes. This blew me away. What a legendary-looking trip and such a magnificent landscape.

I am speechless! It is just so good! Added to the list;)

Remote, rough and rugged..... 55 miles, highest crossed was 12,580 feet.

Ugh, my jealousy meter just pegged. Hopefully next year I'll get up to that area of the Winds. These pictures are inspiring--that's the Winds that I know and love (and that beats the tar out of me every time I go there!).

Downs Mt. Quad...A poster at Backpacker pointed out to me it is likely the only one in the 48 without not just roads but also trails.

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Could be never really looked....pretty much all off trail

Overwhelming.
Burning question:
Where did Y'all find places to sleep among all of those rocks?

And who would that have been.....

This is from my original Down's Mtn Quad . Some of the print is missing from the double sticky tape , that I used to mosaic the entire Winds topos on my dorm wall in 1973. The Road Classification read "No roads or trails in this area"

I was finally able to do this as a 10 day solo loop from Trail Lks to Floyd Wilson Meadows, climbed Gannett via the N Ridge and the Gooseneck, then exited via the Divide to drop down to the Ross Lks and back to my truck in 1975.

I've tried pounding the people at Backpacker that this is the best of best , in the lower 48, for years. I'm glad to see someone else finally do it !!

Very much looking forward to a trip report. Really amazing, hopefully one day I'll be in good enough shape and have the time to be able to do something of this magnitude. Working towards that goal.

I have been trying to get through there for 15 years....... and it will warrant another trip..... :)
The original route was across Horse ridge to Dry Fork to Glacier Panorama to Dinwoody then the route in reverse of what we just did.

This is great, swims! We should take a poll as to how many stuck quads to their wall here in a mosaic. What college was that dormitory in?
