Been going a week now. Pretty much have a handle on it..... but it has burned from Dollar lake to Green River Lakes. I think the campground is gone.... Our trip had a good smoke cover, Gannet south was bad.....

We popped in to see a friend in Cora on the 23rd on the way back to Denver from our Yellowstone trip and it was as smoky then as I'd ever seen a place. Pretty sure the campground is gone, yeah.

Popped up fast... this is what it looked like from Dubois last weekend. I started seeing the smoke plume from somewhere around Casper. Shame for the Green River Lakes to burn, it is a beautiful area.

Recent update on the fire. Burning around SE edge. Talked to a few locals here who said it's not a bad thing. Too much dead wood and invasive plants that needed clearing. Fire update

I was camped at Elbow L when it progressed after the rain. Pictures are about 3 hr apart. Thought a new blaze had started as wind hadn't apparently shifted. Smoke came up the Green, hit the walls around Peak L and billowed my way. I checked with @Bob and others to see if my retreat was cut off. Tent was covered in ash and cinders in the morning. I bailed. Ok 20 mile hike out, but day after all the smoke from Canada and NW US is covering the range. Debating what's next.

Ash & cinders on the tent in the morning - that would have freaked me out and I definitely would have bailed. Do you know if there were any people in that area who didn't leave?

Ash and cinders can go a long way..... not necessarily meaning its close..

We were getting them at Ink Wells as well, thats 16 miles...

I didn't see anyone up there that day and didn't run into anyone the hike out until near the intersection with the trail to Indian Basin/Island Lake.

I remembered Bob pointing out that those cinders can spark a new fire a long way off. That and seeing the rapid change in the smoke density near me got my attention! Wasn't until today that I knew about the recent expansion of the Dollar fire SE around the mtn at the lower Green R Lake.
