Hello All. We have a 2 week hike planned starting in Needles and going across Beef Basin, Fable Cyn to Woodenshoe, Bears Ears, Todie/GG and Owl Cyn.

April 23 - May 7, 2025

I'm really starting to wonder about water availability through that entire area. We'll be caching water at Bears Ears, Kane and down on Comb Wash. I wish we were leaving earlier, but the die is cast.

Also, can someone please share the coordinates of Druid Spring? And any thoughts about how reliable it will be on April 23?

See post here for recent water conditions in some of the North Escalante canyons. Not where you are going, but by cross-referencing the reliability of those sources you can do some inferring.

NPS won't offer information about water in Needles because they prefer to save the sources for wildlife, but it's there. Some google earth scouting will do you good.

What do you mean by Druid Spring?

Long ways to go, lots of ruins to see in that timeframe.

Not sure of your route.... I have never seen the big spring in Fable/Gypsum confluence not running strong ......but you never know. I'd guess there will be water up high still around the Bears Ears country. Cooper at head of Rig Cyn used to be good. Last time I went up there in late April we couldnt get around Bears Ears cause of snow.... but this year is a lot less snowpack.

Almost zero snow on the Bears Ears themselves and below. Though it was snowing and sticking when I was driving through a few days ago

Thats what i see on the weather maps. We have 4 feet at my house. The last storm brought a wet snow so pushed the water % over 100 around the GYE ..... We will see how fast it melts off as next week is supposed to be in the 50s, early.

Hitting Deer Valley next Mon/Tues before its all gone this year.

Your map image is something else........................... 10,000 letters and numbers, no pic. You must have attached it wrong

I haven't been to the spring around Druid since Vets day weekend of last year. There was plenty of water then... many pools along the canyon bottom. It's been fairly dry since then, but it's also been winter so evaporation is lower. I'd suspect you'd find some still. If at first you don't succeed, search search upstream.

I'm so sorry about the magic eye puzzle! I am very happy to say that I have deleted it.

Thanks Jorey, Bob and LarryBoy. I understand things better now.
