The last of my Yellowstone/Grand Teton Critter Pics.
Crossed paths with a couple Moose in Paintbrush Canyon.
I stood and watched this female wrap her mouth around a branch and swing her head up in the air while stripping the leaves for over 30 minutes.

This bull was just off the trail as I was heading up the canyon.

He watched me walk by then found his own way out onto the trail.

Once out in the open he chose a resting spot nearly on the trail and even appeared to doze off a bit. With no way to go around him I was not turning back at this point!

Great shots!

this tarantula walked across the road today. I really liked its shadow, it was way cool.
I'm arachnophobic but for some reason I like tarantulas. I would love really like to touch one

I even went a bit closer, after it went to some bushes

Bought a Lumix ZS100 P&S a couple weeks ago, after just using my phone for a year, and have gotten to use it a lot the past few days. Unless you count some enclosed bison,

...the only wildlife I've had a good view of was a squirrel:

Shooting in manual for all my landscapes, and haven't been too impressed with "Intelligent Auto", overall, but it did pretty good with the squirrel, I think(ok, I'm super happy with it!).

More Wildlife Pics from this year's week in Yellowstone.

Obligatory Bison Pictures.

Lone Bull Trailside.

This fella was munching on grass next to my parked car as I returned to the trailhead.

This group of Bison was all riled up and huddled together due to some wolf activity in the valley -- more on that in another post.

Some Yellowstone Pollinators.

No need to set the alarm with this fella bugling early in the morning.

Everyone uses the boardwalks in the geyser basins. :)

I thought I had actually seen a beaver at beaver ponds. . . closer inspection says more likely a muskrat.

Handsome Bull Elk.

Momma bear and two cubs. I think one of the cubs is hiding behind mom in this picture. This was my first Yellowstone Grizzly encounter and I was trying to focus on where the bears were headed (hopefully not towards me!) vs. getting lost in taking pics.

Such a pretty bear

This goober ran up in this little crack/shelf(it's actually ~2.5ft off the ground), and closed his eyes, like he thought it would make him invisible.
When he tried to shift around, lost his balance and rolled out of his "hiding spot", a new tactic came into play.
I don't recall seeing an armadillo play possum before!

Here is one of the Bighorn sheep that we saw in Waterton Canyon (SW of Denver) the day before Thanksgiving. It was super cold that day and the sheep were not down on the road close to the river. Last year same time I saw a lot of a bighorn sheep down on the access road. When we left the parking lot, a guy told us, that lots of sheep were on the road just a few days prior (that last warm Sunday when we were drinking beer at The New Belgium Brewery in Fort Collins):

Last week we finally saw 3 Javelina, yeah...grazing along a dispersed campground along Salt River, Arizona.

And then a Coatimundi crossed in front of us yesterday:

yah, that’s a photo I looked up, this is the one I took! The crack in our windshield points right at the location where it took off :D. (The clear nail polish is working well so far)

Today we saw 10-12 very special Goulds Turkey in a remote location of Cave Creek canyon, AZ, just north of the Mexican border, outside Portal, Az. If there’s indeed 1200 of them in the Chiricahua Mountains, then it might have been 1% of the population right there:

Side mirror view of most of them getting back on the road, notice the long legs!!!!
