Wildflower season is on the wane, but we found some nice patches this past week.

Still a bit of fireweed color on a foothills bike ride today, but other than the occasional aster or cinquefoil, that's going to be pretty much it for 2024 Alberta wildflower displays.

The hot pink paintbrush scattered among the pale yellow columbine is wonderful. Among the bright yellow and purple is wonderful, too.

After a winter that was both warmer and dryer than average, the pasque flowers (aka prairie crocus) have popped up very early this year, adding splashes of colour to the brown hillsides below our neighbourhood.

Riding and hiking on balsamroot covered hillsides near Kimberley, BC last week.

 

[Ugly]

I will not even attempt to name these... all from last weekend.
