We spent a couple of days this week in Waterton NP, cycling the closed to traffic Red Rock road, and hiking to Bertha Lake, one of the few easily accessible hikes due to the ongoing road closures since the disastrous wildfire of 2017. Waterton is known for it's wildflowers, and it was interesting to see that the flowers are on the vanguard of nature's recovery.

Not sure when I will ever get to any trip reports. Maybe one of these nights when I am on the road.
Until then though, spent some days and weekends in the Uintas.

The wildflowers were a little past their prime but still quite lovely in the titcomb and Indian basins.

I saw a few flowers on the White Rim in Canyonlands. Scott saw me taking the first picture and snorted "that's a weed." It is an invasive plant that seemed to have a good stronghold. When backlit it was like Christmas lights.

I just enjoyed every single one of your 322 pictures! I, too, take lots of wildflower photos and love to identify them when I can. Many of yours are familiar to me, but others are ones I've never seen before and hope to see someday!

the first wildflower of the season:
This Indian Paintbrush definitely decided that it is already Spring

because all of our winter rains arrived so super late, there are not many wildflowers out yet.
I managed to find a few on my hike yesterday but compared to last year wildflowers are literally nonexistent. I hope some will pop up soon

I finally found the first blooming claret cup cactus.

it's a bad year for wildflowers, I don't think there will be a lot out at all. The rains came a few months too late
