White River In Colorado

Wondering if anyone here has any experience floating the White River in
Colorado.

Particularly interested if you know anything about the river east of
Rangely, CO.

The White flows east to west and joins the Green in eastern Utah.

The most eastern start point I've read about is Rangely, CO.
When there isn't something online about a stretch of river it typically
means private ownership along the river and that may be the case here.

Another river I'm looking at is the Gunnison river

So if you know something about the White River or the Gunnison
I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks for sharing your trips. Overall how did you like the river?

I've done Pleasure Park to CO65 (at the time there was a dam downstream that has since been removed, so we couldn't go further), and then from Escalate Canyon to Whitewater. Both were nice easy floats, if that's what you are looking for. Downstream from the confluence (Delta) is going to feel more remote and backcountry-ish if that is what you are looking for. There are some nice campsites at the mouth of Dominguez Canyon, but they are also along a popular hiking trail into the canyon.

East of Kenny Reservoir the White is mostly on private and just runs along the highway (http://publiclands.org/Get-Books-and-Maps.php?plicstate=CO). I've worked quite a bit in the area and have always wanted to float the lower section. Really cool and unique geology, lots of wildlife, and quite a bit of rare/endemic flora if you're into that sort of thing. Gnats in the area can be unbearable (June usually the worst).

I've done the Gunnison from Delta to Whitewater a couple times. Pretty nice; best section is Escalante to Whitewater. Also in the area, the Dolores has some sections that are supposed to be great when flows are sufficient but I haven't done it.
