I am very familiar with the Northslope of the Uintas. I have hiked or road horses to several lakes. I'm taking two of my boys (14 and 16) this summer for a one or two night backpacking trip. We want to hike to a lake with good fishing. We hope to keep the trip under 10 miles one direction, preferably around 5 to 7. My younger boy was a bit overwhelmed on our last trip. What do you recommend?

Check out Amethyst Basin. There are a few lakes along the way, and the mileage should be right around what you're looking for.

I have been there a few times. It is in my top three list to take my boys right now. Hoping to find somewhere new for me too.
